Most of Lunenburg is all about brightly painted clapboard building. I say most as there are a few others that don’t seem to fit in. On the main street of Lunenburg if s a very old grey quarry block monstrosity. It is a Bank of Montreal building and is not at all in keeping with the town’s surroundings. I have never photographed it and I don’t think there are many that have as it is one ugly building. Well not so ugly as it might blend into a concert oases of most cities but not so well in Lunenburg. Today the sun was low and above the bank and looked up. The well illuminated building across the road were reflected in a top window. I just positioned myself until the red optometrist building lined up and took the shot.
I absolutely love the contrast of design.

What an amazing shot – and the stonework above the window makes it look like it has a statement to make.
Thank you.
I visited Lunenburg in 2005, such a tranquil and beautiful part of Canada. In fact all of Nova Scotia’s coastline is worth visiting. Thanks for stirring up my memories.
You will have to come back for sure.
Great observation resulting in a wonderful image. From inside the bank, the BMO windows also nicely frame the neighbouring colours.
You know now I will have to go into they bank with my camera, do you think that will raise any eyebrows
Yay! Unesco Fresco wins out over Standard Bank!
Like in a game of rock, verses scissors, verses paper, colour paper wins every time.
Wow! A winner on all Design counts … ! beautiful.
